Fuck Seed Oils: A Reference Database
95% of the reason seed oils are bad for you is they have 20-60% highly inflammatory omega-6 PUFAs (linoleic fatty acids). Olive and avocado oils are seen as healthier, but they aren't perfect and they vary widely. Most companies won't run these tests and give you the numbers so we will.
The test data
See how easy that is? I just grabbed a bunch of popular brands at random, emailed half a dozen labs, and got the best price from this one. Cost me $1,000 + oil costs to run these tests. I'll make the table prettier later instead of just a screenshot.Linoleic acid is the bad stuff you want less of. ALA is a good proxy for being cut with canola (looks like none of these are). Bryan Johnson's oil is about 8% linoleic acid -- the one brand that actually tests themselves.
A better alternative?
I have no affiliation with any of these brands. I am working toward launching a new oil brand that will make lowering linoleic acid a top priority. It's called LoLa Oil, for low linoleic acid (trylola.com).Many solid fats e.g. coconut, butter, beef/lamb tallow, or palm kernel are 1.5-3% linoleic acid -- we want liquid oils that come close to matching.
Thank you
